Kilshane House
Set in the magnificent rolling countryside of South Tipperary, this large Victorian house is at the end of a half mile long driveway and surrounded by 320 acres of private parkland which includes a trout river and landscaped gardens with some stunning features: great trees, an 1860 palm house, a large walled garden - and a ballroom in an orangerie, where 200 guests can be seated for a gala dinner. The house has recently been meticulously restored for special events and is now one of Ireland’s most desirable private venues. An impressive high-ceilinged hall with marble columns and beautiful plasterwork sets the tone, and a series of fine rooms - drawing room, library, dining room and morning room - all share magnificent views across the Tipperary landscape.
There are several churches to choose from in the area, and wedding blessings can be held at Kilshane. The champagne reception is hosted in the Conservatory, followed by dinner in the Orangerie, which has three French doors opening onto a terrace overlooking the lake.
Wedding planning services are available on request and contact details for all of the ancillary services -such as special transport requirements, including helicopter hire are available. Dressing the venue for the wedding is the couple’s responsibility - when the room decor has been decided on, the bride and groom organise any flowers, candles and so on that might be required.
Accommodation is available in the main house (four very large, elegant rooms, plus eight slightly less grand in a wing), and in self-catering suites and mews houses; prices vary accordingly.
The activities offered to guests are another attraction to Kilshane as a residential venue: there are three golf courses within fifteen minutes of the house, trout fishing on site (with fly-fishing course offered), master class in pottery, hill walking for all levels of fitness and introduction to birds of prey, allowing guests the opportunity to fly hawks, owls, or falcons.
