Sandra Foster and chef Max Lequet’s purpose-built restaurant is in a lovely situation, with views over Waterville Bay. The design, by local architect Albert Walsh, combines an attractive traditional exterior with a spacious and surprisingly sumptuous interior that reflects the beauty of the area, with original artwork, subdued lighting, plush chairs in rich shades of red and green, copper candelabra reminiscent of curly sheep’s horns and driftwood mirrors - all combining to make a romantic venue for a special occasion.

Sandra and Max don’t offer a formal wedding planning service, but they will do everything possible to ensure that the day runs smoothly, and take a flexible attitude to the style of service, which would usually be a sit down meal with full table service, but could be a buffet if preferred - and Max will do canapes, and the wedding cake if required too.

There’s a pleasant glass-fronted reception with several tables outdoors and a view of the Atlantic, where the arrival drinks reception can take place - Sandra and her team are very welcoming and, with a nice blend of Irish hospitality and French cooking, the emphasis throughout is on quality, welcome and relaxation.

Max offers a 4-course wedding menu, and there tends to be a slight bias towards seafood and, of course, Kerry lamb - he takes pride in using the best of local ingredients and this comes through on the plate, in dishes that combine local flavours with French flair.

This restaurant has earned a reputation far beyond the immediate area, and a wedding here is certain to be very special.
