Rathsallagh House
Rathsallagh House
The O’Flynn family’s renowned 1798 country house is beautifully-located in 350 acres of lush parkland and gardens, on the western edge of the Wicklow Hills, only an hour’s drive south of Dublin. There are numerous old country churches nearby, and wedding blessings can also be held in Rathsallagh’s beautiful walled garden (perfect for photographs) or indoors, in The Orangerie. The atmosphere is very welcoming and homely, their two wedding co-ordinators can answer virtually any question, and arrange music (church, reception, band), special transport, photographers, even wedding insurance - and they will be there on the day to greet you, and set everyone at ease. A host of little touches will make the day extra special - exclusive use of the venue is built into the costs, the house is set up to provide a soft romantic setting for the wedding with lots of candles and garden flower arrangements provided at no extra charge, and menus are rolled up into a scroll and tied with ribbon.
But the main focus at Rathsallagh is on the food and service: a magnificent 5-course sit-down dinner is based on local and home-grown produce, with hot dishes cooked to order, fish or vegetarian options provided, and allergies taken into account.
The wedding cake can be arranged and an 18” silver stand and cake knife are provided - offering the cake instead of dessert is allowable, but they find it is enjoyed more if kept until late at night and offered with another cup of tea or coffee.
The accommodation is charming rooms vary, as is the way with old properties, but they are all very comfortable and include a highly romantic bridal suite. An exceptional range of activities is available, and the area is beautiful - the wise guest will take a break here after the wedding.
