Sha Roe Bistro

Henry Stone - well known for his years as head chef at nearby Marlfield House - and his partner, Stephanie Barrillier, hit the ground running when they opened this restaurant on the ground floor of a 1690 house on the main street of Clonegal, in October 2005.

With Henry’s reputation preceding him, and a charming dining room with a big open fire to woo winter guests, they were busy from day one and it’s equally attractive in the summer, when a lovely courtyard comes into its own. It’s a very appealing venue for a small wedding, with a cosy reception room for the drinks reception on chilly days, and the courtyard when it’s fine - and a flexible attitude to menu planning from this talented and obliging couple.

Wedding blessings are not possible here, but there’s a choice of churches nearby - and good food, a warm atmosphere and the character of an old house make an appealing package.
